Toss Up: Choosing A Book To Read

Hey everyone, I am trying to decide which book to read first out of these two.  I received an Advanced Review copy of A Death-Struck Year, last year and never got around to reading it.  Steelheart on the other

hand was given to my boyfriend by one of the customers that enjoy him at the restaurant that he works at.  I know he won't read this book because he prefers non fiction, and religious/ metaphysical texts.  So, me being me, I will read any and everything (like I've done since I've been able to read) whether it catches my attention at first or not.  So I need to decide which one I want to read first.  I am thinking about doing a Chapter by Chapter post on one or both of the stories as a way to give my perception and view on what I've read with other people who have also read the books or planning to do so.
